Just....let it go...
"welcome to the dawning of a new empire"
all good things come to an end. like...
the nineties.
that delicious 10-piece sushi plate you order for lunch.
my (at first seemingly endless) supply of the office episodes that i need to survive my morning commuting.
love.
some of these things can be revived. the love is once again present.
that sushi will also sooner or later return, but not in a by me preferred format.
the office will be a hard one to replace. maybe balattack can step up.
fuck the nineties.
anyhow, onto the important stuff. this is our last communique. sort of like refused.
but not even near.
my, to say the least, feeble perseverance instigates this heart-wrenching goodbye.
there there, my trusted two readers. Thou shall prevail.
blogs are gay. i knew this even before i started. hell, i thought internet was gay back in 1994. all hail the bbs's.
the way of the future lies in a tropical fruit.
i'm going all papaya soon, and ya'll shall see the glory.
but not without a last up!
a sweet little mix.
tunes that make even the dullest organ in my body (the pancreas that is....fuckin' partypooper...the first juice-maker to throw in the towel) shake it's tissue to the groove.
and other tunes. that are just plain ol' super.
as follows;
1 "a necessary end" - saltillo
2 "roar" - patrice bäumel
3 "interrompo court" - kangding ray
4 "mind of it's own" - alexi delano & tony rohr
5 "bass shake the ground (unreleased digital exclusive remix)" - clp
6 "janitor" - vibesquad
7 "snarling black mabel" - hallucinogen (for ol' time sake...)
8 "2 cat" - ametsub(if you only listen to 3 of these songs, make sure this is one!)
9 "crosswalks" - alias ('n this one!)
10 "valentine" - spor
11 "steps to heaven are steps to me" - unai
12 "dusty records feat. awolone" - depth affect
13 "all summer in a day" - frank bretschneider
14 "dynamo" - rumpistol
15 "ignadjossi feat. jhonel & ghislain poirier" - dj rupture
16 "data.vertex" - ryoji ikeda
17 "beaver blink (ooah remix)" - fine cut bodies (also this!)
18 "hacksaw" - ooah
19 "nightriders" - electric birds
if i may just say one thing. prior to playing "beaver blink", make sure to crank the bass up to an ridiculus amount. it's worth pooping your pants and getting homeless.
try it (part 1)
try it (part 2)
end of line.

"Views/Octopus" - Nosaj Thing
sweet harmony
so....here we are, a few months later...
i (yes, I am inconsistent with my use/abuse of i vs. I...deal with it.) rarely hear a tune which origin i haven't downloaded/purchased within a week....tops..
this one's been a slippery little fucker.
and i've tried, hard, not to listen to just that one tune. that surely fucks up a song...i hate singles...
oh well. the tune was "aquarium" by this highly talented fella who calls himself nosaj thing. his name is probably jason. you know my methods, Watson.....
now i am fully aware of that i could have bought this ep from itunes. thing is, i don't wan't my shit in aac, i want it in sweet flac or v0.
or even better, in 15 grams of polycarbonate plastic, 1 gram soul.
and since i am of the opinion that paypal is all make believe like eskimos and recycling, i simply didn't have any options. but solarseek.
this shall be repented.
he is about to release a full length album. and i will buy it. and it shall be sublime.
mark my words.
until then, be amazed by what he have accomplished so far.
"heart entire" might be the perfect combination of ratatat and edit.
bliss in other words.
even better than starships "nothing's gonna stop us now"...
you know you'll have to try this one.

"Diary of an Afro Warrior" - Benga
τοκετός
a long long time ago, i spent 2 weeks on an godforsaken island.
in the land of the deepfried and filthy tourism one must do whatever it takes to survive.
to make a long story semi-long, i ended up alone one night (obviously not alone, but without my drunkard wingman) in a two-story so-called "night club". shitfaced and intoxicated with whatnot.
what made me almost cry/urinate my pants was that i was inable to leave this gomorrah.
fluorescent shit, lazers, stairs, doors, alcohol, natives... it was all trying to defeat me.
i spent what felt like 2 days (probably more like 2 hours) trying to find the exit.
when asking someone, all i heard were their glossolalia crossfaded into some shitty nu-trance mix by tiesto, this making me even more scared.
ctrl-x to next sequence: wandering along the road in the pitch black countryside, fearing for everything from my life to my virginity.
now, as you may have figured out, i lived. i woke up in my bed. still scared. but more scarred.
it felt like i had been given a second chance, a new birth... and it didn't feel like someone had molested me. for that i'm glad.
now if we were to take that story and extract all the fear and the humiliation, what would be left would be the perfect scenery to bengas "diary of an afro warrior".
it's dubstep. some of the songs maybe a tad bit too ambient for my taste, allthough he makes up for it in other almost techno-ish moments. but all in all, excellent.
and if they had played this music while i stumbled around in that hell-hole, my borderline psycosis probably would've blossomed into a magnific, beautiful rampage.
just try it out won't ya?

"Huggable Dust" - Okay
one mans disease is another ones remedy.
finding music that truly affects is rare these days.
this one does.
it's simple but effective.
all of you having trouble with the tom barman/billy corgan/yoni wolf type of nasal singing will not find this tea in a cup of your choice.
but i do.
the title track of this album alone makes this a purchase/download well worth it.
by far one of the most beautiful and sad songs i've ever heard. in all it's simplicity it is probably one of those songs that will stay with me forever. that is an even more rare thing these volatile days.
the fella behind this excellent music supposedly suffers from crohn's disease and whatnot.
keeping him bedbound. making music.
not good on his side. but the rest of us benefits.
this one is on repeat in my world.
it should be in yours too.

"London Zoo" - The Bug
"play something tragic, ton ton"
there is something about that apocalypse that's darn appealing.
wether it's the relieving sense of cleansing or the possibility that you might get to be a cool dude with cool guns in a gritty doomsday-esque world. who wouldn't wanna be a careless raggedyman? you probably would have a severe headache most of the time and probably the worst case ever of body odour (fuck the american spelling I tells ye).
still, you'd get a incredibly trimmed and body hair-free female, just for being cool.
like rhona mitra in "doomsday" (unpleasantly boring movie). she might be named after the ugly headed great white fat rhino in latin, but thats the way I like it baby I don't wanna live forever.
not that she really qualifies as such a female in that movie. whateva.
not that she really qualifies as such a female in that movie. whateva.
back on track 'ey?
this record is definitely one I would take for a spin if the mother of all shit hit the great fan of existence. dark and grimy.
don't need no amagideon to enjoy this one though.
just you n' your headphones.
or you, a basement, a sound-system and a whole lot of hate/love.
this one delivers what burial promised.
(oh, props to anyone knowing the inceptive quote)
26.7.08
"Alopecia" - Why?
no more self loathing.
no more bitterness.
can't go on digging roses from your grave.
farwod, never backwod. as my capoeira instructor used to say.
in celebration to my new found altruism and forgiveness, we present you with this excellent album.
I hold why?s "elephant eyelash" as one of 2005:s best releases. "gemini (birthday song)" still is one of the best songs ever written.
on this latest effort the electronics and beats takes a few steps back. normally I'd frown upon this fact.
but this one grew on me. like a melanoma in my groin. 'til I was forced to like it. not that a melanoma 'd ever be my best friend. but whatever.
boy do I like it now.
so should you.
8.7.08
"Hybrid Awaken" - Lunar
my friends mother once told my friend that his band should call themselves "tellus".
now, not only is it incredibly gay (not being derogatory here....fuckers), it's weak. so much cool stuff up up and beyond, and you choose...our own planet? not that "jupiter" would have suited a thrash band better but... (there is probably a multitude of bands with the above mentioned names...but thats in poland... remember; poland...not being derogatory here....fuckers).
now what in jesus name do I talk about?
lunar.
name sucks. music most certainly doesn't.
it's like partying back in '97 at one moment, the next your thinking moby going way too orchestral.
speaking of '97, gonna up som belladonnakillz and bogdan raczynskis latest. thats nostalgia in a distant future. (?)
try this one out, if only for the song "floodlights". bloody marvelous.
try it
"13 & God" - 13 & God
we like it when two separate bodies are able to merge into one, supreme body.
'nd right here we have the result of two excellent albums, two wholly different genres, blended to perfection.
themselves anticon-backpack-hiphop with its sharp edges.
notwists softtronical dreamscapes.
with a little touch of osmosis these two create a balance worthy far more attention than this.
so, show them what you're made of. you go girl. dare do it. give them your attention.
and your firstborn.

"Machinic Demo" - mpc2059
mechanical heartbeat he says.
I say smooth clicking and lush bleeping.
with just a tad of chaos sprinkled on top.
like a bionic cupcake. on fire.
"i'd buy that for a dollar"

7.7.08
"Brighter" - Don't Look Back
sad times call for sad music.
intense times call for intense music.
'n right now folks, it's intense! and a little bit sad.
this album contains what probably right now (gotta say "right now", 'cause back in the days, my favourite songs have been both jennifer rushs "power of love" and hallucinogens "lsd"...) is the runner up for best song.
"remove all trace". 2:26 into it i get goosebumps. the only song to beat that is "await rescue" of 65daysofstatics "one time for all time", where about 1:39 into it, I feel ready to break on through to the other side. "await rescue" is the bomb. not just a bomb but this bomb.
not loosing track, I say these frenchmen just saved the honor of their overrated countrymen.
no country for old frenchs.
iam though, were pretty good around -98..
alas, this is post rock with electronic and metal influences at its best.

not sure biggie would've liked it.

The What The Fuck Was Supposed To Be Happening
hey, I'm pro global warming. we were put on this planet for a reason.
to make sure movies like this never is brought to life.
and if mr shaymaheylaman keeps up his who-can-do-the-shittiest-most-pretentious-movie-race, I'll continue setting old refrigerators (sans fuckin energy star) and baby birds on fire.
'til were all gone.
seriously, I would like my 91 minutes of life back. thank you. with a cherry on the top.
had I known what I know now, I would've watched that lame movie on tv instead. that movie starring some skeleton and that hideous overbite-girl. "wimbledon" was it's name. but we probably could have called it "apocalypse now", compared to what atrocities I was put through instead.
if you want to know what happens in the movie, click the picture above and stare on it for 15 minutes. now this is no lie; marky-mark looks exactly like that throughout the entire film! frowning, looking like his nostrils are about to take over the rest of his face. for 91 minutes!
to be fair, his nostrils do probably stand the best chance of getting a best acting award in this movie.
just to make sure you don't watch this abomination, I'll spoil it:
it is the nature doing it! no....wait....they tell you that multiple times in the film...
guess it wasn't a spoiler.
"but....what's the purpose of the movie?" you ask yourself?
well, there seems to be none. except maybe for the inventive fella killing himself with the big lawn mower.
or the crazy lady in the end. no. my bad. because there was no need whatsoever to have that crazy lady in the movie! shalayalashakakhan tryin' to score some cheap horror shots.
oh, the fat kids being shot (for no really apparent reason) was ok.
other than that, I'm highly disappointed.
sorry shamalamadingdong. for making this garbage, you are hereby forced to wear the poohat.
'cause that was how dirty and stupid I felt after watching your movie.
28.5.08
"lp3" - Ratatat
ratatat is an interesting band. this album is interesting.
they say a picture says more than a thousand words.
they also say that all good things comes to those who wait, so maybe you shouldn't pay that much notice to them.
anyhow, this priceless piece of art shows when old ratatat fraternized and got hyphy with what later would be the exact and undisputable definition of their latest album.
(had I not grown tired of gimp:ing/had to work, there would be some starzinger and pirates in there too)
(oh, this album is due to july, buy it then. do that.)

"Crying Over Pros For No Reason" - edIT
zomg!!!111
honestly, I couldn't find a better word for describing the first trembling moments when my filthy hands groped this glitch-extravaganza for the first time. (well I probably could, but who gives...)
there are those rare moments when an album hits you like king slenders backbreaker and, enter love.
just because this album is so goddamn great, I'll even excuse mr. edit for trying to get crunk on his latest effort.
do listen to this album. it isn't just another dipshit gone fruity loops. it got groove.
Labels:

"Soon It Will Be Cold Enough" - Emancipator
mmmh...
yummier than thou...
music born and bred for public transportation.
especially when public transportation seldomly (I know it isn't right, seldom is an adverb that doesn't need the -ly, but I do have a crush on that sweet little teaser of a word) seems born and bred for, yea, public transportation.
you are a public transportation.
(don't let the triphop-label scare you off. it's a brave new world)
(yea I know, it's a link to gehenna, but what to do...?)

"The Distant And Mechanised Glow Of Eastern European Dance Parties" - 65daysofstatic
the latest great single from "the destruction of small ideas".
and since I think that this is the best band around, this might be a little biased, but you might as well call this single "epic single". no. don't do that by the way. call it your mother and treat it like it gave you life.
been into these guys for a while (since they released "the fall of math" in '04) and they are truly groundbreaking. and evolving. in a good way.
but really, if you don't like 65days, then I don't like you.
I'm a pretty reasonable guy.
but when it comes to this, I'm b.a.n.a.n.a.s.
the shit my friends, truly the shit.
(and they are even more magnificent live I tells ya!)

Cloverfield vs Garfield

*baha mens "holla"
cloverfield wins. I would give it a dark-mossy-green grade on the spectrum-scale (whereas the completely useless poo-reeking "flood" is the definition of red, and the sublime "pi" is right up there in violet).
uppers: ratatat on stereo in party, massive destruction, nice cgi:s.
downers: my referrenses to "starship troopers" at some points (making "cloverfield" inferior, cause we all know fascist space-action defeats everything).
b.t.w. don't worry about the beautiful illustration, it ain't no spoiler. honestly. the havoc wrecker is not a falukorv/sausage (though the nina persson from cardigans signing on it might lead you to believe it is).
nor is it göran greider.
I suspected him at first.
'nuff with spoiling, see it. it is worth it.
"Phantomatics(V1.02)" - Ghostown
imagine an album filled with quirky laid back beats.
add a dash of gypsyesque vibes and a nice flow.
now say that it wouldn't cost anything.
utopia?
I say hell no.
Ghostown is teh shit (and I are teh internetz silly language hat0rz).

"Robotron" - Signal
unenlightened you: amplifier must be broken. only static humming and noice.
god of thunder and all things good and ultimate: no, this is supergroup Signals latest piece of art!
unenlightened you: but how could my ass-for-brain not notice this!
god of thunder and all things good and ultimate: you played it too soft. crank dat shit up in this mother!
unenlightened you: yes. this is it.
god of blablabla...: don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like me?
enlightened you: shame I couldn't buy this record at a reasonable price at a store near me. but if I could, where would all the erik "snyggve" segerstedt does d'artagnan records go? (they probably wouldn't go to heaven where the angels fly, more likely to a lake of fire and fry...)
snyggve: fack jo I won the idol almostely and I loves them bryan adams and sting! and I'm snygg!
enlightened you: oi! foo aof ue braaaek!
(actual cover doesn't include childmolester and lame robot. though the album do sound like an awesome robot gunned down by lasers.)
